Welcome to Pikes Peak Athletics: Where Champions Are Forged

I remember the first time I walked into a real training facility. I was a high school athlete, all arms and legs, with plenty of heart but not much direction. I thought being a good athlete was just about trying harder than the next person. I quickly learned I was wrong. It was about trying smarter. It was about having a guide, a plan, and a place that was designed for one purpose: to help you become the best version of your athletic self. That early experience is the very soul of why the Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center exists.

Nestled in the shadow of America’s Mountain here in Colorado Springs, a city buzzing with Olympic energy, our training center is more than just a gym with weights. It is a dedicated ecosystem for growth. We are a sanctuary for the aspiring youth player, a workshop for the serious high school competitor, and a tuning shop for the adult who still cherishes the thrill of the game. If you have ever felt that nagging feeling that you have more to give, that your speed could be a fraction of a second faster, or that your strength could be just a bit more powerful, then you have come to the right place. This is where potential meets its path.

More Than Just Gym Equipment: Our World-Class Facility

When you first step through our doors, I want you to feel the difference immediately. This isn’t a crowded, loud box where people wander from machine to machine. The air hums with purpose. The space is designed with an athlete’s journey in mind.

We have dedicated zones for specific types of work. Our strength zone is equipped with professional-grade racks, platforms, and free weights. This is where foundational power is built, safely and effectively. But we knew that strength alone doesn’t make a great athlete. That’s why our expansive turf field is the heart of our facility. It’s here that we work on speed, from the explosive first step to full-stride acceleration. We set up agility ladders, cones, and hurdles, transforming this space into a laboratory for movement.

One of the things I’m most proud of is our recovery and mobility zone. Early in my coaching career, I saw too many athletes burn out because they only trained hard; they never trained smart. Recovery is not laziness; it is a critical part of getting better. We have areas dedicated to foam rolling, stretching, and mobility work, and we educate every athlete on why this is as important as any lift or sprint. Furthermore, our sports lab allows us to use technology like video analysis to break down movement patterns. Seeing your running form on a screen, with a coach pointing out subtle adjustments, can be a game-changing moment. It makes the invisible, visible.

The Blueprint for Success: Our Comprehensive Training Programs

A beautiful facility is just an empty shell without the right programs inside it. We have spent years crafting and refining our offerings because we understand that a sixteen year old football player has vastly different needs than a ten year old soccer player or a forty year old marathon runner. One size fits none in athletic development.

For Our Youth Athletes (Ages 8-13):
This is my passion project. Youth training isn’t about lifting heavy weights or creating mini-professionals. It’s about falling in love with movement. Our youth programs are built on the principle of Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD). We focus on the ABCs: Agility, Balance, Coordination, and Speed. We play games that secretly teach them how to control their bodies, how to land properly, and how to change direction without thinking. I’ve seen shy, uncoordinated kids blossom into confident, capable young athletes over a single season. The joy on their face when they master a new skill is why we do this. The winning is a byproduct of the fun and fundamentals.

For Our High School Athletes (Ages 14-18):
This is where the rubber meets the road. High school athletes are often juggling academics, multiple sports, and social pressures. Our role is to be their anchor and their accelerator. We provide structure. Our training for this group becomes more specialized. We build sport-specific strength—explosive power for basketball players, rotational core strength for baseball and golf, and relentless endurance for soccer players. But we also talk about the mental game. We discuss handling pressure, the importance of nutrition for recovery, and how to manage a busy schedule. For many, the goal is to play at the collegiate level. We act as guides in that process, helping them understand what it takes not just physically, but mentally and academically, to make that dream a reality.

For Our Adult and Elite Athletes:
Your competitive fire doesn’t extinguish when you graduate. We serve adult athletes who are training for everything from local 5k races to intense functional fitness competitions. Our approach is about longevity and performance. We help you train hard without breaking down. For our elite athletes, including those who may be training alongside the Olympic Center, we offer a collaborative, high-level environment. We can be a piece of their puzzle, providing specific conditioning work to complement their sport-specific practice.

The Pikes Peak Method: Our Coaching Philosophy

You can have the best equipment and the most detailed programs, but without the right coaches, it means nothing. Our coaching staff is the true engine of Pikes Peak Athletics. Every coach we bring on shares a common philosophy, one that I call the “Three C’s”: Competence, Connection, and Character.

Competence is non-negotiable. Our coaches are certified professionals with backgrounds in exercise science, kinesiology, and years of practical experience. They understand the science behind the training—the physiology of a muscle contraction, the biomechanics of a sprinting stride. They are lifelong learners, always attending seminars and reading the latest research.

Connection is what separates a good coach from a great one. A coach must be able to connect with an athlete, to understand their fears, their motivations, and their unique learning style. I have a young athlete I coach who was terrified of box jumps. No amount of technical explanation worked. So, we started with a small book on the floor, and then a slightly thicker one. We built confidence one tiny success at a time. Today, she jumps without a second thought. That required a connection, a trust, that went beyond just giving orders.

Character is about building better people, not just better athletes. We instill values like discipline, resilience, hard work, and sportsmanship. We teach our athletes to win with humility and lose with grace. The lessons learned within these walls—about pushing through when it’s hard, about supporting a teammate, about respecting your body—are lessons that will serve them for a lifetime, long after their playing days are over.

Who We Train: A Home for Every Sport and Every Dream

A common question we get is, “Do you train for [my sport]?” The answer is almost always yes. The principles of athleticism are universal. We work with athletes from a huge range of disciplines:

    • Field Sports: Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Rugby

    • Court Sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis

    • Baseball and Softball

    • Track and Field: Runners, Jumpers, Throwers

    • Combat Sports: MMA, Wrestling, Boxing

    • Winter Sports: Skiing, Snowboarding

Our focus is not on reinventing their sport-specific skills. A basketball player comes to us to get faster, jump higher, and become stronger so that when they are on the court, their body can execute what their mind knows. We build the engine, so the driver can perform at their best.

    Your Journey Starts Now

I truly believe that everyone has an inner athlete waiting to be unleashed. Maybe you are a parent looking for a positive, empowering environment for your child. Maybe you are a high school senior dreaming of a college scholarship. Maybe you are an adult who just wants to feel strong and capable again.

Whatever your starting point, your journey is unique, and we are here to honor that. The first step is always the hardest, but it is also the most important. We invite you to come down to the Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center, to feel the energy for yourself, to talk with our coaches, and to see how we are different.

Let us help you find your path to peak performance. Your mountain is waiting to be climbed.

    Conclusion

The Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center was born from a simple idea: that every athlete deserves access to intelligent, compassionate, and professional coaching in a facility that inspires greatness. In the competitive landscape of Colorado Springs, we strive to be more than just a gym; we are a community and a resource. Our integrated approach, blending cutting-edge facility resources with a holistic coaching philosophy, ensures that we develop not only better athletes but also more confident and resilient individuals. The journey to improving your athleticism is a marathon, not a sprint, and it is a journey we are committed to taking with you, one step, one lift, and one sprint at a time.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What age is appropriate to start training at your center?
We welcome youth athletes as young as 8 years old. For these younger age groups, our focus is exclusively on fun, fundamental movement skills, and general athleticism, not intense weight training. It’s about building a solid foundation for a lifelong love of sport and fitness.

Q2: I’m not a competitive athlete. I just want to get in better shape. Is this place for me?
Absolutely. While we use the term “athlete” for everyone, we define an athlete as anyone who wants to improve their physical capabilities. Many of our adult members are there to improve their overall fitness, lose weight, or train for a specific personal goal like a hike or a local race. Our training will make you stronger, more energetic, and more confident in your daily life.

Q3: How are you different from a regular gym or a big box fitness center?
The key difference is coaching and intent. Regular gyms provide equipment for you to use on your own. We provide a structured, coached program in a dedicated environment. Every session is guided by an expert who ensures you are performing movements correctly and efficiently to achieve specific athletic goals, all while minimizing the risk of injury.

Q4: Do you offer nutrition advice?
Yes, we believe performance is built on a foundation of proper nutrition. Our coaches provide general guidance on healthy eating habits for energy and recovery. For more advanced and personalized nutrition planning, we can refer you to trusted registered dietitians who specialize in working with athletes.

Q5: What is your typical pricing structure?
Our pricing varies depending on the program (e.g., youth group classes, high school performance, one-on-one personal training). We want to find the right fit for your goals and budget. The best way to get accurate pricing is to contact us for a consultation, which often includes a free facility tour.
